Hi all,
Does anyone have information on crime (or any general info) in the Lakewood Apartments located at 11000 Gatesden Dr? I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks in advance!

Honestly, I look at tons of apartments on there all over the country, both cheap and extremely expensive ones in like Los Angeles or San Francisco, and a ton of apartments everything gets bad reviews. The one my cousin used to live in, don't remember the name it was in a suburb of Minneapolis, had like 10% on there and a ton of bad bad reviews, like 40-50 reviews with only like 5 good reviews, and there was nothing wrong with the apartment, the management was nice and the place wasn't a dump.

My apartment on there, the few reviews there are, are 1 star reviews, saying theres little closet place, very rude management, and bad parking. The manager is very nice, the parking isn't bad, its right in front of the building by the entrance, and theres plenty of closet space, unless you have like 500 pairs of shoes or something.

I take rating sites like that with a grain of salt, and I read the reviews and see if they list valid reasons why it sucks, if they post like a 1-2 sentence review saying it sucks and not giving a reason other then it sucks, then I am going to ignore it, or if they were violating their lease and are writing a bad review to complain, I will also ignore the review. Dont just look at the ratings, read them, and most importantly, take them with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the replies everyone. From the crime stats I recently obtained for that complex, things are pretty bad (assaults, home and car break-ins, etc).

I am not interested in living in that complex. Rather, I am interested in the surrounding subdivisions and the impact of that complex on resale, not to mention any potential risk of crime spilling into the subdivision that borders the complex (Lakewood Grove).

Would love to hear from anyone currently living in Lakewood Grove to learn if this has indeed been an issue at all. Thanks!

Not sure about the apartments, (I'd like to see them razed). That area has always been considered safe, with very low crime, though you'll have more property crimes at any community located directly off of a freeway.

The crime statistics ratings from the popular real estate websites are rather misleading because you can have a safe, low crime area lumped in with the rest of Harris County which includes Houston. It'd be nice if this area was incorporated so it could have its own set of statistics to differentiate it and make it easier for people to get a more accurate representation. Harris County is a large, populous county and those sites do dot differentiate between the safe areas and the bad areas.

Anyhow, long story short you're good to go. There are a ton of other good choices further South on Louetta and/or Spring-Cypress as well.

If you're looking to buy a home in Lakewood Grove or Lakewood Forest or any of the subdivisions in that area then that apartment complex is a non-issue. If you're looking to rent an apartment there are newer options close by.
