Wasn't there a mega dance club called Rich's in downtown Houston back in the 80's? Whatever happened to that place?

Wasn't that the same as the "Old Plantation?"

Exclamation Nightlife in Houston

My parents met in Houston at a blues club called Mother Blues. I also remember Little Devils, Elan, Sneaky Petes (on Richmond) that had an extra bathroom which was in view of the bar. When some poor sucker woul d open the door, a "monster" would be sticking up out of the toilet. It provided some cheap laughs for those sitting at the bar. I was living in my car at the time that U.S. Disco (Uncle Sam's Club) was on Fondren. Most clubs had a happy hour food bar and served things like shrimp, bacon wrapped chicken liver and other foods.

There was club Realto after confetti, did not stay open very long but there was some movie scenes filmed in Houston and at this club. The movie starred Jackie Chan in They still call me Bruce sequel to They call me Bruce. My girlfriend at the time had a small part as an extra dancing with Chan during one of the action scenes. Was her 15 minutes of fame. She is the blonde if anyone has ever seen it.

Has anyone mentioned the hottest hangout on Richmond back in the 80s-early 90s called "The Yucatan Liquor Stand?" When did it actually close?

The Yucatan liquor stand later became that club with the big blue saxophone...blue bayou. then some restaurant. The yucatan was crazy for the girls, good music, the sand filled volleyball court, the big drinks, the girls.

Y'all missed the Island Club it had 3 stories with different shows and acts, I saw the Village People there, by the Galleria.
Another huge club was Clubland...remember clubland! downtown. How about next to Emo's that great bar called Lola's (the purple house).
Oh Emo's...the black and white porn flix showing on the monitors... the guy with the crown sitting at the thrown with the stash of....candy.
