In a city like Houston, I would learn to speak Spanish or Mandarin
there will be plenty of people to practice with, plus, free TV station (Over the air antenna) in Spanish and Mandarin

I have been knitting and crocheting a lot recently and find it very relaxing. Its easy to learn and not an expensive hobby. I actually re-taught myself from a couple of books as I hadn't picked up knitting needles since I was a little kid.

LOL! I'm a professional procrastinator!

You CAN audit any class at a community college if there is space, but I think you still pay normal tuition. Non-credit is when it's cheaper, but those are only in continuing ed.

Why not do some volunteer work for the political party of your choice or one of the many nonprofits connected with medical research or the arts? You won't have time to be bored and you'll meet some interesting people.
