I know that this is vague, but I would like hear different opinions.

Thanx.

BBVA/Compass.

I don't like chase. When you walk into their bank, it's like a car dealership, they want you to buy this and that and upgrade to this and that. I think they work on commision b/c when I walked in there looking to open an account or get a mortgage, they were almost fighting for me, it was really uncomfortable. You have to watch for all their term and conditions and change of conditions. They have a lot of ATM machines though.
I've been with Compass for 7 yrs and have had no problems with all 3 branches I've dealt with. Wells Fargo was professional too, but I didn't go with them.

Wells Fargo has the best online banking but they will try to nickle and dime you on everything and their CC rates are high. Chase gives me much better rates but like above poster said they are always trying to upsell you stuff. I think Compass online banking is crap but they are friendly to do business with.

I have banked with Members Choice Credit Union since 2004. Nice people and have always been helpful. They have online banking and bill pay. There is one located off of 99 if you exit Kingsland coming from Cinco. I have had my fill of big banks and now opt for credit unions.

I will agree, if your are ready to get out of a "big bank" we have some great smaller options. Traditions Bank on 99/Highland Knolls has AMAZING customer service. I know because I "cookie mom" 3 girl scout troops and all our troops are serviced by Traditions Bank. (Traditions bank actually does a lot of work for the community too) I see them A LOT every Jan-March! lol!

That said, we bank with Capital One... just have for years and have nothing to complain about. But the next time I am in need of a loan, refi, or whatever, I WILL be looking to Traditions first, just because their service is always so top-notch...
