My husband are considering both for possible relocation and would appreciate anyone participating in the discussion/poll we started on the city vs. city forum:

There is a city vs. city forum now??? What next, football and virtual t-shirts?

Why not split the difference and live in Scottsboro?

Haha, well, we definitely want to live in a metro area. Scottsboro seems a little isolated for us .

I see you are from Albuquerque...Huntsville's neighbor Decatur has a hot-air balloon rally every year on Memorial Day weekend...not as big as Albuquerque's, of course, but almost as old. Chattanooga has an upcoming rally that's new.
The Chatt. area is a pretty difficult area to land a balloon in.
I was born in Chattanooga and now live in Decatur. Both areas have their advantages and disadvantages. Good luck with your journey!

Go where the jobs are, both currently and plan B (plentiful to choose from in case of job loss). Neither city has everything, each city has something you want/like/can live with. To compensate for recreation/entertainment/shopping you can visit Nashville, Huntsville, Atlanta (from Chatt.) or Chattanooga, Nashville, Birmingham (from Huntsville). Let me ask you this: Would a definitive answer to "either or" make you move to that city 100%, based on strangers' opinions?

Oh goodness no .

We just appreciate hearing the perspectives of people who are familiar with both areas, since we are not. It will ultimately come down to jobs, and if we are lucky enough to have job opportunities in both places, it will come down to the vibe we get when we visit both places and what we feel is the best match.

There does not seem to be an overwhelming factor in either city that makes us think "this place is clearly the better choice." Right now we still lean toward Huntsville, but that's more based on gut feeling than anything else.

Either way it's exciting as they both sound like great cities.

You can't go wrong with either place but... Huntsville is better.

I just now saw your post, not sure how I missed it before . Very cool that Decatur has a hot air balloon rally. The one in Albuquerque is definitely something I will miss! If we end up in the area we will definitely have to visit Decatur's . Thanks for your post!
