I see more places springing up around Huntsville advertising they will buy your gold/silver/antiques, etc.

What has been your experience with these places? Can one get a better deal on line?

I wouldn't go online. You have to send in your jewelry first, let them weigh it, and they'll usually give you a ridiculously low offer for it. If you accept, you have to wait on a check. If you decline, it could take a while to get your gold back.

You'll get more money and get it the same day with a local shop. Don't be afraid to go to a couple of different places. Try one of the stand-alone shops and make sure that you try one of the actual jewelry stores that buy gold. They seem to give a better deal from what I've seen & heard.

You'd be a fool to sell, but if you had to, then go to a reputable coin dealer. They should not offer you a dime less than current spot price for the metal. Look it up on Kitco, see the spot price, and that's what it sells for, period. The guy I buy/sell from is on the parkway - no sign or anything that I ever saw. First thing he does is go to the computer, pull up Kitco, and what the spot price is at that minute is what he's buying/selling for. Anything else is BS.
