We are looking at putting in a pool in our backyard and can't find anywhere that states how high the fence has to be. At my old town we didn't have laws reguarding such, but I have heard Huntsville did. Is there a fence law in Huntsville, AL? We want to make sure we are up to code before doing anything we will get in trouble for.

I believe it has to be at least 6 feet, fence slats to the inside (which usually it is) and you have to have a lock on your gate. Call the city inspector to be sure, it has been a while since I have confirmed that with HSV city.

You know what...I think this is Madison. The heat is frying my brain! Call the city, they will tell you exactly what you need to do!

Rules like that constantly change. I think the ones in Florida changed three or four times while we were there. Build high so you don't have to come back later and upgrade.

Thank you! I finally received an answer from the Mayor's office. The requirement is only 4ft.
