What stores would you like to see in Huntsville? Maybe some retailers or malls are out there watching the forum. Here is my list to start with:
- Eddie Bauer
- Restoration Hardware
- The Container Store
- Wild Oats

Perhaps Debartolo can add them to the new mall off of Zierdt: DeBartolo Development (http://www.storetrax.com/DeBartolo/showProperty.do?centerId=12656 - broken link)

I doubt Debarto gets built anytime soon. I say Macy's for Department Store... wow do we not have en Eddie Bauer I thought there was on in Parkway place for some reason so definitely one of those. Wild Oats too, and for restaurant Cheesecake Factory. Here's a list to make it easier.

Oh yeah i most definitely forgot about Dave & Buster's so I have to add it from Nicole's post and make it look like I thought of it first :-)

Macy's
Eddie Bauer
Wild Oat's
CheeseCake Factory
Joe's Crab Shack
Sephoria for the girlfriend
Dave & Busters

Macy's, Trader Joe's and a family/adult entertainment complex like Gameworks or Dave & Busters.

Eddie Bauer was located in Madison Square when the mall first opened...or went in shortly after. They folded when the entire chain closed a bunch of stores (it's now owned by Sears...there may still be a store at Galleria in B'ham).
Doesn't Macy's own Dillard's?
I'd rather have Nordstrom, as Macy's quality has severely declined.
Hey, I can dream!
Dave & Buster's would make a mint here.
Decatur is terribly underserved...we miss out on so much because it's lumped in with Huntsville demographically.

Wild Oats was bought out by Whole Foods last fall. Don't think you'll be seeing one of those.

I have to agree the Macy's in Birmingham is fairly sad compared to what a good Macy's is. A Macy's here would probably be run under the same regional management and be identical, although it *might* just be the Birmingham buyer that is so... frumpy.

A Nordstrom would be nice, but I'm not sure there is enough of the rich-old-lady demographic in Huntsville that is Nordstrom's bread and butter. Nordstrom would have to re-market themselves a little for Huntsville. I could see them fitting into that mall in SE Huntsville off Memorial -- it's kind of upscale but not trendy like Bridge Street.

Macy's = May Company = Federated = Bullock's = Broadway = Bloomingdales, all owned by Federated Department Stores, Inc -- I think only the Macy's and Bloomingdales brands are still around as stores.

Dillard's is just Dillard's, they are independent.

Land's End, not Eddie Bauer, is owned by Sears. Eddie Bauer used to be owned by Spiegel but it is now independent since Spiegel filed for bankruptcy. BUT... Sears is now owned by Kmart. And boy, does it show. Sears used to be a pretty high quality, if a not fashionable, store. Quality and service has gone way down since the buyout.

It's like watching a shell game... who owns the company now?

I would like to see Whole Foods come to Huntsville and put some pressure on Fresh Market, but I suspect with the booming popularity of Publix in Huntsville, Whole Foods wouldn't come.

Is there a Pottery Barn there? If not, I will go into withdrawals.

Yes, there's a Pottery Barn at the mall in SE Huntsville that I can't remember the name of (if I ever knew it.)

I believe you are referring to Parkway Plaza Mall. I know it has a Pottery Barn.
