Hello,

I need to do a few small projects, such as build some basic window planters. To that end, I need to purchase a small quantity of lumber. Can anyone tell me a good lumberyard for perhaps some walnut or redwood that tolerates and sells to individuals? So far all I can seem to find via google is Lowes/Home Depot (who carry almost all pine and whose quality is atrocious) and businesses that seem to cater solely to builders. Thanks in advance for the help.

this is not a recommendation to the extent of vouching for the quality or services provided, but just an idea where to look for lumber (reclaimed):

Check out Hazel Green Building Supply/Ace Hardware. It is north of Hazel Green on 431, on the left, going toward the stateline.

Hardwood (as opposed to soft woods such as pine and poplar) is hard to find, especially if you just want a few pieces as opposed to a truckload.

You might check flooring places. Also, google "cherry lumber Alabama" (substitute your wood of choice) and check out what comes up.

It's not easy!
