The area we lived in Houston had a gas station just like the one you provided a picture for, we had a similar taco bell, our McDonald's had just been torn down and rebuilt the year we left(we used to have an old, ugly one). Our grocery stores had more landscaping than most entire communities in Hsv. The area that I grew up in(where my mom still lives) is also very nice with overhauls occuring regularly to keep up with the aesthetics of the times, it is great for her property value. Really it didn't/doesn't matter to me too much either way, I wasn't a regular customer of either fast food joint and didn't really care, I never really spent time watching them or paying attention although the McDonald's was pretty impressive when it was done-complete with a landscaped outdoor dining area and indoor coffee bar. I will agree with you 100% on the power lines though-they need to be buried.

Overall yes, things can look great if you spend the cash, but if you remember ion's concern wasn't the look but the actual gas station itself, its customers, and the terrorists.

Wouldn't the customers most likely being neighbors, people of similar demographics?

Terrorists !!!!

You know, that is terribly unfair to use that word to describe the people who owns, operate, and invest their life savings into these gas stations and convenient stores !!

They provide a service to the community, create jobs & tax revenue for the city. They "fuel" the growth of neighborhoods.

Enough of the critics' "not in my backyard" outcries !!! Hey if you use it, it'd better be in your backyard. If nobody uses it, then it will be closed. Welcome to the free market capitalist society. Welcome to America (even in Madison, AL) !!!

Did you live in Woodlands? If so that is one nice area that Madison could emulate if they put forth the effort.

No no no, don't you remember? The terrorists were going to target the gas station as an explosive device and being that close the entire subdivision was going to blow up with it.

Now I was a bit concerned with that in Houston just because of the number of refineries and power plants centralized by the port of Houston and another set in Pasadena and another in Texas City-the fall out from any of those would have been crazy and there was a rumored attempt at all 3 at once. But it was a small thought in the back of my mind typically only brought to the forefront when something happened or the anniversary of 9/11...and I never mentioned it to anyone-let alone the city council. But a gas station?

Nope Pearland and my daughter went to school in El Lago(by Seabrook/Kemah).

The Woodlands were nice but they had their issues too-for us it was simply too far for Chris to go to work, I knew some people up there and they didn't like many things about their neighborhood-mainly that everything was centered around the highway and traffic was getting to be a bit much.

You all ready for the SW corner of Balch and Gillespie to go commercial B-2? It is up for rezoning at P&Z in April. The previous Applewood subdivision that was planned will be reduced in size to make room for the commercial development.

I wonder what type of commercial development is going into this one, any insight? Last one was a gas station/ convenient store, maybe this one could be a coin laundry place or motels that charges by the hour

Sorry, couldn't resist.
