Hey, I have seen a few threads about families moving to Huntsville, but I was hoping you could offer a mid-twenties, single male some advice on where to live. I have just accepted a job in Research Park and will be moving to the Huntsville area in a few weeks. I have contacted a few realtors about rental listings, but when I look at the addresses on google maps I don't know if it is/isn't a good area. I'm looking for a small house/townhouse (< $800) before settling on an apartment (bad apartment experiences in college have burnt me). If you could offer some advice on safe, affordable areas in Huntsville/Madison I would greatly appreciate it. Also, any other tips/advice for a young person moving to the area would be appreciated.

Here's a nifty tool to show Craigslist apartment rentals on a google map interface:

MapsKrieg - Huntsville, AL - Apartments, Rooms, Sublets, and Real Estate for Sale

Be advised that you're going to endure a lot of "why are you single" questions b/c people here get married to whomever they're dating when they get out of school.

Not to sound creepy, but since you are single, I'm apart of a great website with a lot of interest groups around the city where you can meet people.

That's odd considering most who live here are not actually from here — and went to school elsewhere.

Depends on the part of town you live in I guess. I'm a bit more towards the rural areas. Honestly though I think the whole "imports" thing is grossly exaggerated. 95% of the people I've met here grew up in the south or rural midwest. I could count the number of people that I've met who grew up in a "big city" on one hand. I was only in Madison for a few months so its possible that it really is different. But that's digressing from the original topic...

http://valleymls.com has a great search function where you can search rentals and check location.

Looks like there's over 6000 unmatched chicks for our original poster.
