My elantra used to have a problem where everytime it rained out and I left my car outside in the rain, the engine light would come on and my car would nearly stall everytime I pushed the gas pedal, and I always had a lack of acceleration. Many times, my car would also "jerk" a lot when accelerating, like it was trying to go but was thinking about dying! After about 24 hours of dry weather, my car would be just fine....

Now I'm having a problem where my car does this stalling and jerking action even when its completely dry. The engine light has been on for days, and I'm having a hard time getting my car to accelerate quickly. Has anyone else had these problems?

It's hard to tell but it sounds like a sensor/electrical issue particularly if it only happened when moisture was involved. When the check engine light came on what was the code? If you didn't bother pulling it then you're wasting time since it can often lead you right to the point of failure. If its a sensor or minor electrical issue this could be an inexpensive fix.

This really applies to everyone but if you 1) have a check engine light and 2) your car isn't driving right then the first thing you do is check to see what the check engine light is for since the cars computer is throwing a code. Doing anything but that basically means you don't care to find out what the problem is.

Even without codes, what indeed should be step number one at any parts store, it's definitely sounding like a fuel supply issue.
Is it caused by a rotting ground for pump at the fuel tank, or moisture in gas, that I do not know. But it pretty much so sounds like bad pump or whatever controls it.
