I've been catching small mouths and trout (and even 1 pike) all summer, but these last 2 outings (Fernan and Hayden) I've been skunked! I tried every lure in my box w/o success! Can you help a brother out?!

What lures are you guys using to catch fish in late summer/fall?

Thanks!

Thursday in the CDApress has tips on fishing. A couple of recent ones are;
Catfish east end of Fernan Lake, dough baits molded to a treble hook and fished with a bobber. On Hayden, the smallmouth are typically found around 25 to 30 feet deep, twintailed grub on a ***. largemouth, the shallow grass with either a rubber worm or topwater frog. Or you can pop into Fins and Feathers tackle shop and ask them the poop.

First rule of Idaho is don't reveal any fishing secrets

I've always been amazed when walking into a tackle store in a tourist oriented destination and wanting to buy some tackle to match the local fishing conditions and not getting any info at all. My wallet stays just as closed as their mouths at that point. Their is a gal and her husband starting a little tackle store in Riggins next to the Hamburger joint. She was extremely helpful and we won't forget next time we are in the area.

First rule is don't tell ANYONE your secret hunting spots...second rule is don't reveal fishing secrets. Noob

just kididng DR

Got any more adventure tours planned on the bike? We did the McGruder Corridor on the quads, saw quite a few dual sports on the trip. Nice ride and not too far. I'd have liked a dual sport, just so I didn't have to backtrack back to the rigs.

As for dual sporting a few of us are leaving for the Virgin Valley campground in NW nevada next week. The motorcycles goes in the back of the trailer this time.
We are cheating this time and I am taking my huge 5th wheel trailer.
That way we can have Scotch on the rocks and steak for dinner with miles of off road trails during the day.
I must be getting old

BAH! Well I caught a Pike using a spinner :P

I agree live bait>lures. I just keep running out :P

I thought the secrets were the spots, not the lures. Sigh. Thanks for the tip from the CDA press. I was gonna subscribe anyways. Looks like another reason to!
