There's a lot of common ground here. I also agree that job outsourcing has to stop.

However, educating foreigners and sending them home means that there is a pool of labor out there for outsourcing scumbags to use. Either you educate NO foreigners, or you encourage them to stay here. I honestly don't care which, but I think it's smarter (and has historical precedent) to keep bringing them in. After all, if we go totally isolationist, we might end up like Imperial Japan when Admiral Perry came knocking with his steam ships and cannons.

Foreign universities can't hold a candle to US universities. We have the best schools, best teachers, and most advanced technology. But we're bleeding away/spreading around all that knowledge and talent (that gives us a global advantage and makes employers think twice about outsourcing to some Indian-educated engineer) with every educated foreigner we send home.

I mean, there's a reason NKorea can't make a working nuclear bomb or IRBM. They don't have good schools and they can't get their hands on US-educated engineers.

OT: Yes, stop selling infrastructure to overseas investors! That money should stay here!

OT: Yes, pass (and ENFORCE) legislation that prevents companies from doing business with foreign countries who don't have enviro/worker/human rights protections. That'll help jack up the prices of foreign labor/goods.

Is America the only place a foreigner can get an education ? Most people come for an education in other countries just for the adventure, not to take jobs or anything. Its good to experience life and study, then go home to work. They can do the same at home and get a good education there. Studying at home will not mean that jobs will all of a sudden not be outsourced.

Americans demand higher wages here for jobs that somebody in another country demands less. So simple economics says send that job abroad, well save alot of cash. Same happened in Ireland. Our man labour (Factory) jobs has all but dissapeared. I was paid $15ph to work for Hitachi Koki making power tools, and that factory closed. Why ? Well, because they can do it in another country for $5ph, thats alot of $$$ saved. Same for IT / Tech or almost any other job in the world you can name. Do I think its a good thing, no, but at the same time I dont own a multi million dollar company that can make even more money by having jobs in another country.

Default Tax them

I think we would come out ahead if we made the companies who are outsourcing our jobs pay a much higher rate of taxes which would be equal to the money they saved by outsourcing those same jobs. Raise their taxes so it becomes a no brainer for them to keep those jobs here, it can be done by our government with us pushing them.

They can just leave the country then, which hurts the economy more.

Companies won't leave if it's too expensive for them. Moving a company or operation overseas should be taxed as income, at rates equal to 100% of the value of the companies assets. Like Microsoft, if Gates wants to move his facilities to Canada let him, but he better pay up first or go to prison for tax evasion. Then make it a civil rights violation for colleges to offer high tech degrees to foreigners while there are Americans that want into these programs.

How do you feel about college enrollment based on racial quotas regardless of talent?

College admissions should be targeted towards Americans, without regards to race, sex or ethnic background. I would however support an Affirmative Action type program that was based on need. As long as it was implemented fairly across the board.
