Why do you phrase the characteristic of "pride" for those that have come to the United States in the past? Didn't people come here for their own gain (or had no ability to make that decision for themselves)? Be rational that it wasn't some noble motive that automatically takes them above that level.
ILLEGAL aliens DON'T have "pride". If they did; they'd go back home and fix their own countries. Mexico ain't Haiti and MOST illegals ARE from Mexico or at least LatAm. Sheesh!

It's about the pride of coming here legally, not illegally. One should always take pride in being honest rather than being dishonest.

You are saying that same early immigrants lacked the "pride" to change their own countries rather than flee here? Prussians and Swedes changing military conscription rules for males instead of coming to a place where they wouldn't be required to serve? How come those immigrants that are being attributed with that sense of "pride" for not fixing their own countries, with "MOST" of them from Western Europe?
If they had that noble of ideals to stay in place, maybe we could have avoided the cycle of WWI, WWII, and the Palestinian conflict at least...

Exactly, what I tried to explain to you. The pride was in coming here legally not illegally. Coming for personal gain is ok just as long as it is done legally. They usually have something to offer our country also. Family reunification catagory, not so much.

Exactly! We have been overrun by illegal aliens who are draining this country dry. But, rather than enforcing our laws, which would force them to leave, our stupid, spineless, pandering so-called leaders are rewarding them, and inviting even more to come. It's beyond belief.
