2 After finding that out and gathering some useful data perhaps both could come with a working plan to solve this problem, some ideas that came to mind are that being members of the Nafta, citizens of Mexico, USA and Canada should have some special privileges because whether we accept it or not, we all depend on each other, on the American side some working immigration reforms could be enacted like opening immigration offices in those places that immigrate heavily to the united states, people would be received and they would receive a detailed explanation on what they need to do to legally go and work in the USA, they should be examined for infectious diseases, their criminimal record investigated and they should fill out a form explaining their reasons to immigrate and explaining what skills do they have or what are the jobs they are interested in (agriculture, construction, etc)
maybe the mexican government could cooperate providing some assistance as well and start some english courses which would be a requisite to legal immigration.

3 A path to citizenship should be offered so people can have an incentive to assimilate and become Americans if that is their wish.

4 The Mexican government could ease our own immigration Laws for American and Canadian citizens, they should be able to buy and own land without any restriction, and they should have a way to legally come and work in Mexico as well, there are a lot of high tech good paying jobs here who could benefit from skilled American or Canadian workers who are interested in immigrating to Mexico

5 The mexican government also could open some offices in the United States to provide welfare services for those Mexicans that are currently working there, I read in the news not so long ago that the GDF (Mexico city's government) opened a Migrant House in Los Angeles, where Mexicans can Pay taxes and receive welfare services, this is a great idea imho.

Finally, I think that if it was easier for Mexicans to come and go freely to the United States a lot of people wouldn't stay most people does it because they do it illegally and it's very hard to arrive to America (a lot of people loose their lifes or end seriously injured or maimed because of this) so once they are there they stay because of fear but if it was easier for them to do it legally and in an ordered way most would just go work and come back, small rural communities that are migrant exporters would benefit from this and less people would have to immigrate because of hard conditions so most people would do it on their will rather than being forced to immigrate.

Those are the humble thoughts I had yesterday I hope someone finds them useful.

Love and Light!
This is a very pragmatic and diplomatic solution, one that I also share. Much of this relies on Mexican and American government to work things out. However, I think the bulk of it relies on Mexico's government.

A show of faith would be implement Steps 3 and 4:

Yes! Americans should be able to become Mexican citizens easier, there is much to gain by both countries.

A definite solution would the North American Union.

Why not add rich white big business liberals... as they use illegals?
Middle class and rich black and brown republicans and democrats use illegal mexicans.
They don't have to pay them a decent wage, they don't pay them health care ( we do-the taxpayers ) they don't have to educate their kids ( we do- the taxpayers )
They don't have to have Workmen's Compensation in place, they don't have to safety rules and regulations in place.
Afterall, they're here illegally.
And rich white and black democrats will be looking forward to having them vote in the next presidential election.
They are illegals; line jumpers.

I agree, the process should take time and should be done with the utmost care, but right now the only option for most of this people are, migrate to a more prosperous state or city within Mexico, or immigrate illegally to the USA

when immigration controls weren't so tight and the bracero program was enacted people from Mexico just worked made some money and returned home opened small businesses and setled there.

Times are very different now dear Nea1, we face a growing competence from China, India and other emerging economies who pay cheaper wages and have less benefits, we can't compete with them specially with China who has it's currency undervalued on purpose and pays slave wages with 0 benefits, and also America has always resorted to illegal laborers from Ireland, China, Mexico, Italy and lots of other countries since it became a country, immigration between Mexico and America legal or illegal has existed since both countries exist, and it is not just sob to nob but viceversa too.

imho a soft line solution would be better.

No one should come here to owrk, then take the money home to live off of, if they have not paid their dues here, as I have had to. The money they send home numbered in the billions last year, should remain here. My goal is not to keep people from bettering themselves, but it should be fair to Americans that so far foot most of the bills.
I am all for work visas, corporate or ag sponsered, with time limits and the appropriate taxes paid as well as a fair wage and living conditions if required.
No amnesty to those that have been here for years breaking our laws. Sorry you dont reward bad behavior.

While here you must make every effort to assimulate into America, I speak three languages, no reason they cannot speak two.

But I have a feeling if most became citizens and had to pay real taxes and not recieve all the free bennies, most would not be ok with the wages they are now recieving. They will realize how hard it is to live of those legally and demand a livable wage ( what a concept I know) then what?

And I agree! But..illegal is illegal. Would we tolerate a bank robber?
Why is illegal immigrants okay and bank robbery not okay?
There are people, obeying the laws, quietly waiting for citizenship, going thru all the legal process to do so.
Why are we allowing laws to be broken?
