We had the same problem back in the 1950's with illegals crossing the border, it didn't take Ike long in getting the illegals self deporting back across the border.

None of our people in the WH or Congress has any "jewels", or they'd be serving who they're supposed to be serving - the American citizens, instead of special-interest groups and corporations.

You hit the nail on the head there, I never thought I would see the day that we would have a sorry Gov't as we have today.
People who are against illegal immigration tell us we do not have to deport illegal aliens, just cut off the jobs and most will leave America and go back to their own country. I find this an interesting idea but wonder if it would actually occur.
First of all, most of the illegal aliens have been here for over 5 years so have few ties culturally, economically or politically to their old country, so they would have a hard time adjusting to a new country. This would be even more shocking to the illegals who have children. Many of the kids were born in America and do not even speak their parents native language. This would likely make them stay here even if they had to commit to a world of crime.
Second, how would the illegals afford to travel back to their old native country when they are likely living paycheck to paycheck? The cost of moving back to China, India or South America would be high.
Finally, employers would cause an incredible stink if huge numbers of illegal aliens actually started to move back home. They make a stink now but not to the level they would if almost everyone one of their workers would return home.
Logically deportation is not really an option and a movement back to their home countries is not likely either. Better learn Spanish!
Oh, they would leave. Not only that, many South American illegals in Orlando right now are self-deporting because there are no more jobs, no more constructions jobs, and Disney is hiring legal aliens they bring in and dumb US college students to work slave hours for minimum wage. Disney has absolute control over these legal aliens, so it's better than illegal ones.
I think if the US economy continues heading towards the toilet, aliens will leave or turn to crime. Either way, it is a win. If they self-deport, good. If they turn to crime, they will help bring Americans on both parties to DEMAND illegals be removed from USA ASAP.
Many, of course, will stay and go for welfare. But I'd say a good chunk of them will self-deport.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), representing more than 600,000 small businesses in every state endorsed SAVE's requirement that every employer run every new hire (and eventually old hires) through the electronic E-Verify system to ensure that illegal aliens don't get American jobs. It said the bill strikes a “fair balance between increased enforcement and limiting regulatory burdens placed on small business.”
The 752,000-member International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers -- as a way to protect American jobs for American workers -- endorsed the Secure America through Verification and Enforcement Act (SAVE Act).

Maybe not an 'end' as you described; but a definite decrease in the power of said metaphorical magnet would work wonders.
