Good for Texas. AZ should get off the dime and do the same. Tired of waiting for Brewer (Gov) to wake the hell up. We could put our national guard there now. Ca will be a gateway, no balls for much else.

I agree, it sure would crated a lot of jobs for these men, and protect our borders.
Honestly, I cannot believe they are really doing this?
Do you think Obama will interfer?
I hope this is real.
It's such a mistake to have the Central American nations dump their entire social problems into the USA. This is where the Mara salvatrucha gangs come from, by far more dangerous violent gangs than ever seen in the USA before.

This isn't a liberal vs conservative problem ....... even conservative businessmen want cheap labor. And many liberals don't like the way immigrants have undercut labor unions, reducing some hard-fought gains.
I'm not getting excited yet. This state's government hasn't done SQUAT to curb illegal immigration in at least two decades that I can recall, other than blowing hot air to please conservative constituents.
The title is very misleading. Armed Troops? Sounds like Texas is militarizing the border. The troops are Dept of Public Safety, ie Highway Patrol officers. The story makes it sound like soldiers or Guard when it is in reality trained law enforcement officers, much like the existing federal border patrol officers.
The Feds are claiming they do not have adequate border patrol officers to handle the full scope of the border, so it would seem that they should be grateful for the "free" assistance.
