I don't believe in punishing the son for the sins of the father. I don't think any adjustment should be necessary. I think kids who were unwittingly brought here and grew up in the US should be given citizenship. So no, I would not self-deport. I would do exactly what Jose Antonio Vargas did.
Anyone who would do what that despicable Jose Antonio Vargas did has no moral compass or a conscience.

If we just handed out citizenship to people just because their parents are lawbreakers, we would be flooded with illegals and their kids.

I guess that you also think that kids whose parents robbed banks should be able to keep the loot that their parents stole because they were "unwittingly" a part of a criminal family.

Perhaps you also think that the government should give a fat check to anyone who grew up poor because, as kids, they didn't ask for it.

Personally, I think that all illegal aliens---no matter how they got to this country or how old they were when they got here---need to be sent packing. That said, since the law allows minors who were brought here illegally a chance to adjust their status when they turned 18, there is no excuse for someone like Vargas to not have made an effort to do so.

But not according to the law. If wishes were fishes and all that.
I have a step daughter who in my heart is my daughter. 2 college degrees, speaks fluent English and has never violated any of our laws. As far as I am concerned she has more of a right to be here than any illegal. Her mom is a US citizen as am I. Yet she has to wait 7 to 10 years. No that individual needs to answer for the laws he is currently violating.

Uh; IF that came down, I'd take my chances being an ILLEGAL alien but would NOT whine like a bratty kid like this Vargas asshat if I get arrested and deported. It is what it is.
