So much wrong with your post, I'm afraid.
The US does not have an open border with Mexico. Border Patrol, ICE and now the military patrol it heavily.
Governor Newsom doesn't have authority to open the border. That's a federal matter.

The caravan isn't a threat to the US. They won't be allowed to cross. It's a manufactured issue. It's pablum meant to be fed to Trump's base, who eat it up.

It's only because of Trump that they won't be allowed to cross. He implemented and signed some new asylum rules that will be better for all Americans not just his base. Why don't you give him credit for that?

I just read - front page, no less in the SJ Mercury, that 17,000 are homeless from the Camp fire (Paradise, CA) who all are going to need housing. Problem is, there is no available housing in the Chico, CA area. Authorities are overwhelmed.

Fast forward to the Caravan. We do NOT need any people coming into California during this very real crisis.

Now,whatcha gonna do, Governor Brown and Governor-elect Newsom? There is no room at the inn or anywhere else in this state.

Stop the silliness.

This is a big country...here is a real US class disaster.

"Katrina displaced over one million people from the central Gulf coast to elsewhere across the United States, becoming the largest diaspora in the history of the United States."

Houston alone absorbed more than twice the need of Paradise. CA can handle it all without a real twitch.

The dealings with refugees and asylum seekers needs to be dealt with but without local hysteria.

Your belief is the Coast Guard should torture those rescued from a sinking ship as they return to port?

Convince them not to be on another sinking ship?

Didn't work out well for European countries.
You think this caravan is just a one-time event? Let 'em in and that'll be the end of it, right?

No. We simply need a national policy on Asylum, Refugees and other immigrants. We have one but neither the administration or part of the population appear to like it. So we change it or accept the one we have.

The caravan is irrelevant. The question is our policy on asylum seekers. And then we apply it to the members of the caravan.

Puh-lease - I heard this falsehood on CNN and strongly beg to differ. Our borders are extremely porous. Just you wait and see. Newsom even stated in his campaigns ads: Health insurance for all, no matter immigration status.

You are spot on.

Interesting that on this very forum we have posters parroting the left wing cable commentators.
And "correcting" those of us who have eyes and do not fall for the propaganda. This is a bipartisan issue. It has nothing to do with Trump.

Definitely, California has no more room for illegal aliens or anyone else with lack of skills, education and illiteracy, and who bleed the coffers dry. The California displaced citizens --- 17,000 --- need to be housed in Northern California. Most are elderly. Do we throw them away to make room for invaders?

I still cannot figure out why there are pro-illegal groups that encourage the illegals to flaunt our laws and welcome them into the country. Why would anyone in his right mind want to import poverty when we have 14 million American kids living impoverished lifestyles through no fault of their own. What about our OWN families?
