Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio's Human Smuggling Unit has arrested 1051 undocumented immigrants under the Arizona felony human smuggling law as of Wednesday, according to a new report.

Arpaio's Human Smuggling Unit said they recently arrested 16 more suspected undocumented immigrants in the North Valley, including smugglers and 13 co-conspirators in the New River area within one hour.

Suspected smuggler David Oscar Urquiza-Rodriguez, 27, and eight co-conspirators were arrested after being discovered inside a Ford on their way to California, Chicago, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

Two suspected smugglers, 28-year-old Marcelino De La Cruz-Villegas and 44-year-old Fortunato Mendoza-Santos, and five conspirators were found inside a Chevrolet vehicle and were arrested.

Interviews with those arrested determined that each person agreed to pay between $200 and $11,000 for being smuggled.

Every suspect arrested was booked directly into jail and are non-bondable under law.

"We're hitting the illegal immigration problem from every angle," said Arpaio.

Is it true that Sheriff Joes approval rating has dropped to 55%?

Feathered Bastard - Sheriff Joe Arpaio's approval rating at 55% statewide, 57% in Maricopa County.

Some people in the above blog say he will be at 40% by the end of the year, with an election coming up.

I have to admit I am really surprised to see his rating is dropping.

Arpaio's approval ratings have been falling a bit, down from an astronomical 80 percent to somewhere in the '60s. But most analysts think he will probably be elected for the fifth time in November.

I edited the post, this shows his rating dropped to the 60's as of March so 55 could be right at this time.

If Joe were to lose the election, what would that say to everyone here?

It's funny the people who hate the Sheriff the most are surprisingly up to date on his personal statistics - probably more so than those who support him.

Sheriff Joe has set the ball rolling-----------even his replacement will probably be just as much of a hardass against illegals but will be more subtle.

Face it: pro illegal fans; the juggernaut is picking up speed and if I were here illegally---------I would get out of the USA while I still have time.

Not ragging on you, Mach50. It was good of you to revise your info.

This post is to show that the source may well be twisting data to support a pro-Illegal agenda in subtle ways.

This source does not seem to be unbiased or credible with a phrase like "somewhere in the '60s". Any decent poll would have REAL numbers such as 69.3% approval.

If it is taken from a reputable poll the odds are the number is in the high 60s maybe even 69.9%, but it makes it sound worse for Joe to say "somewhere in the '60s" instead of 69.9% approval.

Lastly many polls have 3 options “Approve. Disapprove, and No Opinion”. With this little data it may well be Joe has

Approve. 69.9%
Disapprove 9.1%
No Opinion 20%

But hey somewhere in the 60’s is close enough
