FACEOFF

About 30 minutes into the chase, the agents saw Fleury come out of the woods onto an ATV trail near a canopy. He stopped between 15 and 30 feet away as they stood at a bend in the trail with a tree on each side of them.

Champagne said the trail was only as wide as an ATV, so there was nowhere for the vehicle or the men to go.

As the agents walked toward the ATV, thinking Fleury was going to comply with their order to get off the machine, he reportedly gunned the engine, made a sharp left turn and drove at the two men.

"One agent said (that) as he dove out of the way that he could feel the exhaust on his leg," said Tom Carr, the union attorney representing Taylor and Rascoe. "They could've been run over. That is a very heavy vehicle, and it could've done some damage."

SHOTS FIRED

The officers shot 12 bullets at the fleeing ATV and struck Fleury once in the lower torso.

Champagne said one of the agents was using a semi-automatic weapon with the capability of firing 30 rounds but instead used restraint and shot just four bullets.

The rest came from the regular 40-caliber firearm that agents use, which holds 12 rounds.

The district attorney said the shooting took place close to 11 o'clock at night, with no moonlight, in tight, cramped quarters in the woods.

Champagne showed a photograph of Fleury's bloody T-shirt and the bullet hole to quell speculation that he had been shot in the center of his back.

He said the entry wound is consistent with the way an ATV rider has to shift weight to maneuver the machine and matches how the agents described the confrontation and their actions.

Ramos and Compean do NOT deserve to be released! Shooting in the back they had no right. If it had been someone from the drug cartel, they would not be here today.
This is not even the same incident, why is it here?

Ramos and Compean shot no one in the back. They shot an illegal alien drug smuggler-who they believed had a gun- in the buttocks. Get the story straight.

The only people all up in arms in the defense of Ramos and Compean are hardcore anti-illegals.

Even Border Patrol agents know they screwed up.

how would this situation make a case for releasing compean and that other border patrol dude?

there is no connection. small minds might look at the two parties and draw parallels.

[sarcasm on] hummm, it was a drug runner and border agents. excatly like the compean case. [sarc off]

in this particular case the border agents did what they had to do. they did what most cops are instructed to do. if a vehicle is chargng your way, you shoot. it is you against a machine. all of us would have done this. a threat was very clear.

in the other case with compean, what threat existed?

these are two completely different situations, involving similar parties. trying to make a connection is a far stretch. its a lso a disgrace to the border agents who act honorably. compean and that other guy did not act honorably. dont associate them with this guy, who fearing for his life, did what he had to do.

geez louise

[REALITY LESSON ON INDEFINITELY]

Geez Louise is right. Did you all attend school in LAUSD where if you manage to learn how to read you feel fortunate even though your COMPREHENSION SKILLS REMAIN NON-EXISTENT? If you don't understand the contents of the post, raise your hand and if you ask nicely I'll be happy to translate.

Please point out where Ramos and Compean are mentioned IN THE ARTICLE and where I state this to be the case.

BTW, I want Ramos and Compean to be freed because they were railroaded. Anymore stupid questions or contents of articles you need translated?

So doing a large post on Border Patrol agents being cleared of charges and mentioning Ramos and Compean at the end is just coincidence and no way related?

Or is it just that trick memory again?
