Agreed. If they weren’t here illegally, if they hadn’t used stolen or fake SSN’s, they wouldn’t have a problem. I have no compassion for those who choose to violate our laws. A criminal can expect to eventually get caught. It goes with the territory.

I read the article (didn't have time earlier this morning) and I have a couple of comments.
The first of which, concerns poor Paula an illegal immigrant who has lived in the US for the past ten years. She has two children and is worried about how she will buy diapers and food for them while she is on house arrest. Perhaps her husband might do that. Or her boyfriend? (great catholic values, btw)
The second point is that I was very pleased to see that it was a union worker who turned the plant in. 500 illegal employees could have been 500 union employees making a decent wage. Ah yes, Americans do not want to do that icky work. Not for 5$ an hour, they don't.
And finally, about the charge of the dearth of the small towns now without sizeable illegal populations. I believe one business owner decried how this is hitting the rental home industry as well as 'baby businesses'. Hmmm. If a business is located in a small town, that town will have people in it. It may take more then a few months, and it may take the business owners (who remember, are hiring hundreds of illegals) to go recruiting. I understand the economy sucks in Detroit...if I lived there I would happily take a good paying job in a smaller town to get my children away from the violence, bad education system, and poverty. And I am sure I am not alone in thinking that.
I suspect after the election's these raid's will stop .
