Why, you ask?

Because it demonstrates respect for those who have actually gone out of their way to follow the laws and accomplish their wishes of living/working in America and/or becoming American citizens the right way.

To be pro-illegal immigration is to be ANTI-legal immigration. Without a doubt.

But if you oppose illegal immigration you MUST be a racist/xenophobe/nativist/bigot/etc.

How in the world is it possible for one to support legal immigration and oppose illegal immigration? Such a strange and foreign sentiment cannot exist.

One of the recurring themes I have seen, Here and elsewhere,is that any amnesty or any type of special treatment for illegal aliens is seen as a slap in the face to those that have waited in line and gone through the legal process of becoming citizens. The idea that a line jumper, who probaly has no desire to do anything other than milk the system for all they can, are singled out and treated with a respect that they have neither earned nor deserve.

But, appologists and spin doctors are a dime a dozen

I couldn't agree more. They wish to receive preferential treatment. They feel we owe them. They feel it is ok to commit ID theft. But worse still they feel that our laws only apply to those dumb enough to actually obey them. By they I do mean Illegals.

Not necessarily. Again the counter-example of NumbersUSA comes to mind, they are anti-illegal-immigration and anti-legal-immigration. And you can be pro-legalization and pro/anti-legal immigration.

One does not guarantee the other.

I think it is cowardice to take the sneeky path that so many have earned with respect. Anyone overstaying a visa or slithering across the border is stealing a slot meant for a Legal Immigrant. What have they done to improve their homeland? To improve the lives of other possible immigrants in their homeland? Nothing.

Looking out into the future, (as I often do), I see a mass amnesty not only creating tremendous resentment and social strain today...(possibly severe enough that we MAY have to institute new laws insuring that we continue to 'get along' with each other....and, of course, that would be just one more erosion of freedom), but in the LONG run....say, a generation or two...this (and the FUTURE amnesties which would surely follow) could actually generate a NEW kind of 'hatred'....the division between 'legitimate' American citizens of all races who 'came here the right way', and a new class of 'illegitimate' citizens, who would be seen as 'only being able to be here by virtue of the fact that their parents were willing to break the law'.

Would this be an 'ugly' situation? Of course....and it may even call for new 'hate crime' legislation. But it would not be TOO much of a 'stretch' to forsee this happening....just another form of 'hate', this time brought about by our own leadership, who were willing to prostitute themselves and degrade the whole notion of 'citizenship', for the cheap payoff of low-wage labor, and a total cowardice in the face of ethnic pressure. Not one BIT of this would surprise me at all. And once it 'happened', of course, we could never 'undo' it.

Think THIS amnesty (if it happens) will cause problems? Wait until the NEXT one, 10 or 15 years from now. Remember, the 'big amnesty (1986...3 million souls) was pushed through largely on the premise that it would NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN.

Not true about NumbersUSA. They are for legal immigration in limited numbers that is in the best interests of our country. That does not make them anti-legal immigration.

Your attempts to explain are worthless. The pro-illegals don't care about the truth.
