Yes, and the illegal does not have to live at the address they provide. Many can live outside of New Mexico and very easily obtain the New Mexico drivers license. They will instruct the illegals how to get a fraudulent paper that "proves" residency but of course it proves nothing. The clerks themselves in those offices do the coaching on how to commit fraud.
If this data is correct, something very very wrong with this picture, and something quickly needs to be done about this stupid situation, and what the hek is wrong with us, to allow this to happen. I doubt Americans can go to another Country, and get a drivers license, that easily, would not happen, other Countries are not as dumb as we are! YES I WILL SAY IT AGAIN DUMB.
Actually...that list is about 3 years old. I think we may be down to only three states now that allow non-citizens to get a drivers license: Washington, New Mexico, and Illinois. Utah now has a special class of license that allows non-citizens to get a license...but it shows that they are not citizens.
and I'm STILL trying to figure out HOW illegals get valid DL here in Wa state, as both myself (and then my daughter) had to show our passports, birth certificates, SS cards, Greencards in order to apply - go figure.
But then we went through the SAME process enrolling her at school, yet illegals can just walk in and enrol? Que?
The sooner all states crack down and stop giving valid IDs to illegals the better.
I do know that as LPR we can't get the "enhanced" DL
You're not offsetting these costs with the benefits you're getting from the cheaper labor costs they provide us. I'm sure you have non-insured insurance coverage so shouldn't be much of an impact spread out over all the insured. You really shouldn't worry about it unless you have some political agenda you're pushing.

Precisely...exactly who is pushing an agenda? Those of us who want sovereign United States law enforced equally for all?
Or would the agenda pushers be illegal aliens, their supporters, and those who employ them?
Yep. New Mexico is among the few. Just sheer idiocy.
You'll never see an illegal alien with any kind of insurance, either. They bring their third-world mentality with them.
Even though our main reason for moving out of NM was to be closer to family and even though we miss a lot of what NM had to offer, it is exactly things like this that was the final straw. There were just too many similar concerns we had about the state.

and you think it is just fine for illegals to be here, drive with no insurance, break the law and obtain a drivers license so they now have ID? so they provide creap labor costs, so what? Give them some type of work permit if that is what it takes, a controlled type, but don't give them the benefits of being an American when they basically are criminals from another country.
of course there are plenty, but there are plenty of criminals here legally as well, it doesn't mean we need to encourage or even allow more. We have enough problems with low lifes that are citizens, I don't see any reason to add to the problems.
In yet another example of illegal alien idiocy, I was broadsided by an illegal alien when I was living in Texas. My car was totaled. I was injured and required hospitalization. He had no license, no insurance, and he walked away from the accident. The police didn't even bother to take him to jail. Who bore the brunt of that little escapade?
That is all too common both here and in Texas, too, I'm afraid. The fact that he tried to collect just shows that the illegal aliens have learned how to bleed the system, and it's too bad that we as a country tolerate crap like this.
MEXICO CITY — The question of whether to give driver's licenses to illegal immigrants has ignited a national debate in the United States.
Yet in Mexico, the biggest source of immigrants to the USA, there's no debate: If you're not in the country legally, you can't get a driver's license.
All of Mexico's 31 states, along with the federal district of Mexico City, require foreigners to present a valid visa if they want a driver's license, according to a survey of states by USA TODAY.
"When it comes to foreigners, we're a little more strict here," said Alejandro RuÃz, director of education at the Mexican Automobile Association.
