2: San Jose, CA
3: Bloomington-Normal, IL
4: Manchester, NH
5: Cheyenne, WY
6: Des Moines, IA
7: Columbus, IN
8: Springfield, IL
9: Casper, WY

Default Weird mix of places...

I suspect that the "drivers" for ease of getting hired in some of those towns are VERY different, like in San Jose no one wants to bother with a lower paying job as the cost of living is so high / in-your-face aspect of internet bajillionaires is so close while other towns have so small a population base that is around full time that only seasonal employment is the norm...

I know that IT recruiters often have to offer "enticements" to work in some of the downstate markets that are very much dominated by a single employer as if things "don't work out" you need to have moving expenses covered. That may be a factor for other fields too...

The article states, "“These aren’t hires that are necessarily happening yet. We describe them as leading indicators,” company vice president of marketing Joe Weinlick said Thursday."
