I'm hoping y'all can help me. I'll be flying into Midway and driving down to Champaign next week. Flight gets in at 7:30P and I need to be in Champaign for a meeting at 10A the next morning.

My question is where to stay overnight. It's been a long time since I've flown into Midway and never had a reason to stay at a hotel back then. I'm considering driving down that night and getting a room along the way.

Although, IIRC correctly the biggest thing along 57 is Kankakee. Which only gets me about halfway. Should I go all the way down to Champaign or Urbana and get a room there instead? Are there any charming, can't be missed hotels along 57 that I should consider.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I don't see why you can't just drive down to Champaign and stay there. You're only looking at about a 2-hour drive. You'll be there in plenty of time to get a good night's rest before your 10am meeting.

I think that's what we're going to do. Once DH suggested a red-eye flight, I knew he was OK with being up past his bed time.

Since you're looking for charm, your budget can accommodate it, I'd suggest the Victorian Rose Bed & Breakfast. It's quite charming, and the breakfast is excellent. Rooms start at about $100/night.

Murphy,

Unfortunately, you are correct - there is almost nothing in between Kankakee and Champaign-Urbana. Rantoul _might_ have a couple of hotels in the area. Best advice is to try and make the drive all the way into C-U, which is only about 1h 15m from Kankakee. Just watch out for deer!

Push on through to CU that night. Far better than waking in Kankakee at 7, out the door at 8, and into CU about 930 to rush to the meeting without a cup of coffee.

Better to be rested and ready for the meeting than just jumping out of a car and running in the door.
