Can I live in Bloomingtone without car, for example, during half year? How about work in this town? Sorry for my English, I am from Kazakhstan I play in DV-lottery, and if I win, I want to come in Bloomingtone. Of course not alone, I will come with my daughter, she is 10.

Coming to US will reguire the work Visa for both you and daughter. There is a public bus that does NOT run all night. There is also a taxi and limo service and small regional airport. You will probably come through Chicago to Normal and then grab a bus or taxi to Bloomington.

Unless you speak English well and have a skill you will probably be relegated to a minimum wage job such as janitor. If you don't work you will need a minumum of about $10K per 6 months for rent, utilities, food plus the many things a child needs. If you do not have a job or substantial income, it will be difficult for the six months. And even more so if you go to a large city such as New York or Chicago which is far more expensive to live.

You will need to bring school and medical records. You child will not attend school until she has an eye exam, a physical exam, a hearing exam, and all the required vaccinations are up-to-date.

Our seasons are reversed. Your Spring is our Winter. The Illinois school year began in late August and will end in late May. The second semsester begins the first week after New Years Day in January. For only six months you really should really start in August. New schools are hard enough. Bloomington offers a place of worship for Christian Jew, Muslim, and Independent. The local imam should be able to help you and your dauaghter settle quickly.

Good Luck!
