I have a home I am putting on the market in April. It is a Rockford Addy in the Rockton School District. THe homes in my sub-division all seem to sell in 2 weeks to 2 months.
Anyway I am wondering if anyone in this area has ever listed there homes with the For Sale byOwner magazine and if it was a good or bad experience? What would be the best way to list my home? I have a feeling it is going to be a really quick sale. Even when we were purchasing it there were 2 other offers on the table and it was only up for a week or two. So I hate to fork over 8 to 10 thousand over to a realtor for something that I think is going to be sold so quick. Any advice welcome. And I am not saying that realtors do not work hard or worth it I just feel that in this case the sale is going to be a quick no brainer. |

I also agree with using Rockfordfsbo.com.
Moderator cut: cut link I am planning on listing my home in early April and have been watching this site for years. I have talked to others who have had a good deal of luck with the site. Since my home is in the $$ area for first-time buyers, I think it will sell easier than higher priced homes that are taking longer than usual. I have also observed my less-than-brilliant neighbors who have had luck selling on their own home, so if they can do it, I am sure I can too. Rockfordfsbo will probably run between 160 and 200 with lots of pictures. A lot less than a 7% commission. Good Luck Last edited by SmokyMtnGal; 03-14-2008 at 08:40 AM.. Most buyers work with a Realtor because it's free and they have representation. Also, advertising is the most important factor when selling your house. When you put a FSBO sign out most likely the only people to see your house are the neighbor's.

According to the National Association of Realtors Sellers who list their home with a Realtor get 16% more than listing their home FSBO.

Yeah good point, with that whole "Internet" thing just being created recently, there are only a few people who have access to it so far, so I guess the only chance for the FSBO sale is word of mouth....... The few who do have Internet access would never think to look for an FSBO site that advertises homes for less $ than if they were listed by a realtor. |
