Hi everyone, new to this whole game but love reading insider's opinions. What is the religous climate in Columbus? We are not religious whatsoever and don't want to live in a hugely religious community. We are also tatooed but strangely enough raise our children quite traditionally. We are a very nice, outgoing family but have a little rock edge to us. How would that be received do you think? I don't mind being different at all but moving to a new area I would like to make friends. No snobby housewives for me. Thanks!

I live in Columbus after having lived in Fishers for 4 years. I felt that there were more religious folks up in Fishers than what I feel like down here. I'm not a big church goer myself and most in my neighborhood are the same way. I can count the snobby housewives I've encountered on 1 hand ... I'm a housewife, but by no means am I snobby.

I really like Columbus, it's a great mix of blue collar/white collar and we all seem to get along. Maybe I'm wrong, just giving my experience so far.

Come have a look. We had a great time Friday night. Scientist program for my 7 year old, then Kids Commons was free for a couple hours, then we watched a really cool interpretation of the Pied Piper of Hamlin by a group from Evansville called Tales & Scales ... hmm, they were tattooed and pink haired too .... the crowd, and there was a big crowd loved them. Then we watched a guy sculpt a piece of Indiana limestone too! I'm really digging Columbus (she says in a completely cliched way )

I knew you would reply! Thanks. I have read a lot of your posts and they are very informative. We live in a really small town right now (too small about 6500) and quite religious. I have met a lot of nice people but not many that invite you into their circle.

I grew up outside of Seattle in the suburbs. I miss stuff to do, the zoo, aquarium,etc...the nearest actual shopping mall is over an hour fifteen away. It is beautiful here, we're in the mountains but with that comes a lot of backwoods behavior.

We first will need to try to find my husband a job out there, he is a senior buyer in a manufacturing plant. I work at the elementary school and look pretty normal so when people find out I have tattoos they are quite surprised.

We are looking for good schools, my daughters want a family neighborhood and stuff for us all to do. Any water parks around there? btw, I have a 7 year old too (and 9).

What neighborhood/area do you live? Also, being new to this I don't know what most acronyms stand for so I have to look stupid and ask what is "pm" me? I got your direct mail and will respond later, running around taking my 9 year old to and from activities today. Do I just reply and add my text above yours that is in the box?? Thanks again.
