my god, no kidding!!!! THAT WAS TERRIBLE!!! I have to say that was the worst first half of college football I've ever seen in my life. The kids got tired and we left soon after halftime.

Took some great pics though!

The Basilica of the Sacred Heart. This is where we baptized our daughter, whose birthday it is today and the reason we went to the game to begin with

Jimmy ... not ready for the NFL

ND & Navy flags flying over the stadium with the Basilica in the background

Flag flying at half staff while the band marches off the field

you know gmb ... being ND, Bears and Cubs fans ... we are a tough lot. We support our teams through thick and thin ... been lots and lots of thin though lately, sigh. We will not waver in our support.

Big rumor is that Weis is out, which after Saturday's disaster, wouldn't be a bad thing. Also, a certain former pro coach who grew up in South Bend just bought a big ol house in Granger .. goes by the name of Chuckie.

What a costly and demoralizing loss. Just when things were hopefully picking up down the stretch, everything fell part. I don't see how Charlie Weis can survive at Notre Dame.

He's not Shrek. The clock is ticking. Here's my completely "nothing to back this up" theory:

As long as Jimmy Claussen stays at ND, Charlie has a job. If JC heads to the pros this year, which, who could blame him, Charlie should resign.

There isn't a salary cap next year, so if he wants to make big money, he needs to do it next year .... once the new player contract is negotiated after next season, new caps will be in place and JC won't be able to fetch top dollar ... but then again, after that horrible showing on Saturday, his stock plummetted in my eyes. It was great to see Floyd back in action, but for heavens sake, every stinking play was to Floyd, what's that about??? It's not hard to defend that kind of playcalling ... oy!

If JC goes pro, it will be solely for the reason of the lack of salary cap in the NFL next season ... he's not ready for the pros, but if the money is beckoning.

And again, with Gruden making a home in Granger ... well, it's not hard to make assumptions eh? Chuckie doesn't like to recruit though, but I'm sure it's hard for him not to be in the game. I guess we'll have to see. ND wanted Gruden BAD after Bob Davie got sacked. Al Davis was being a pain in the behind then, but that's not a factor anymore.

Also, watching Weis on the field before the game ... I'm sorry, but the man just isnt' healthy.

I know Charlie isn't healthy and he hasn't gotten any healthier during his tenure at ND. He needs to be in a good cardiac rehab and weight loss program. I may need to join him after the loss to Navy...my poor heart is in bad shape after that performance.

As for JC possibly leaving, I would bet that he will leave. Let's hope that Tate and Floyd don't go as well.

You're absolutely right about Gruden.

Golden Tate is good as gone. ND is stacked at RW. Floyd won't go this year and that may keep Clausen at ND for another year.

But I don't say this lightly, but the ND coaching job may kill Charlie Weis. I wish you could see what I did. This guy cannot even jog onto the field. You see JoPa, all 110 years of him leading his team onto the field. The guy acts like a man half his age.

There's nothing keeping Gruden from not accepting the ND job if offered.

I think ND knew that Charlie was not in the best of health when they hired him. The pressures of the job have taken their toll.

Gruden passed on going to ND when he had the opportunity. After all, his father was an assistant coach under Dan Devine and he could have gone to ND tuition-free. It's doubtful that he would have seen any playing time at ND. Instead he chose a small college in Ohio that no one heard of. Then he moved on to the Univ. of Dayton and was a backup QB there.
