The men's 400 relay was a great race last night but did you see the men's fly tonight?????????????????????? I could not believe how far out in front the USA team stayed from all the other swimmers! Amazing folks just amazing! I have a kid that swims on their school swim team so we are vested in watching the swimming at the Olympics.

Phelps stands alone now with being the only person to hold 11 Olympic medals and he has more races! I hope he can beat Mark Spitzer's 7 single medal record even though that means taking a Hoosier off the record books. 30+ years is a long ride to boast about in and of itself! I sat in awe thinking how Phelps' mother must being feeling through it all.

I know the USA girls gymnastic team were let down in their performances winning silver and not gold. Did you see their faces changing as different girls made mistakes? It broke my heart but even silver medal is better than most of the world's athletes can lay claim to. I am proud of them and the mens team doing what "the media" said they couldn't. Woo hoo!

If anybody is interested there is another Olympic thread under entertainment then TV going on too.

There are also active threads in the sports forum. Yes, that 400meter was incredible. They owned the pool. It's Mark Spitz, a former Hoosier swimmer, gotta try to keep this to Indiana. And the women's gymnastics team wasn't supposed to win the gold. China, and their pre-pubescent girls (sorry, a couple of 'em are not 16, they need to chuck that rule if they aren't going to enforce it with nothing more than a government issued passport), were supposed to win big. A grand effort though, considering our injuries and missteps.

Oops sorry I stand corrected and I even know that name I don't know why I said it wrong.

Too funny domergurl!

Did you see the interview with him on WTHR tonight? He is 58 but still looks good. He said the Olympic committee didn't even invite him to Beijing to witness the possible breaking of his long standing 7 medal record! I find that sad he has held the record for so many years they should have invited him. Guess he isn't a high profile celeb like NBA players but I hold him higher than paid professionals for his achievements.

You know I have been thinking about Spitz a lot since last night and even though he now lives in MI I believe, he will always be a Hoosier that climbed an Olympic mountain where he was king for a long time.

Waiting on the lady swimmers then the men. Can you believe Phelps finish last night? We were screaming so loudly if we had close neighbors they could have thought a bad situation was happening here.

Mark Spitz did what he did WITOUT corporate sponsorship. His sponsor was Indiana University swimming. Spitz paved the way, Ian Thorpe painted the lines and Michael Phelps set the speed limit.
