Just wondering....are there any conservative republicans in Bloomington? From the posts I've read, it appears that it is a very liberal town. That may very well be typical of a college town. Is that only true of the college area...or the entire town? Will we fit in, or will my family stick out like sore thumbs b/c we love Bill O'Reilly? Thanks.

People living within the actual city limits tend to be more liberal than those outside the city limits but in Monroe County. Those living in the county tend toward the more conservative side. (keep in mind many people have a Bloomington address but don't live in the city limits. I'm one.) There are exceptions to this of course. (again, I'm an exception to this trend) Plenty of county offices have been held by Republicans.

The last election did bring more Democrats into county offices (the Obama effect--lots of students voted straight tickets which hurt Republicans running for county offices). It was kind of interesting to look at the election results by township. Those that are outside the city limits voted more for McCain.

You'll be fine.

The city outside of the university is relatively conservative. Which is a good thing, IMO.

Get outside of the city limits and no problems. Inside the city, its ran by liberals and people who have a problem with free speech. Too many wannabe Marxists in their ranks

wait, liberals have problems with free speech? wow, that's an entertaining thought. do you see NCLU members fawn all over the free speech espoused by chairman limbaugh? if by free speech you mean KKK rallies, cross burnings, "heil hitlers", and things that incite hatred or wishing failure on your own country's leadership, then you're right, the liberals hate that.
