For the love of God.......Thats easily a 2 year construction project. Construction on that stretch of 31 always causes absolute chaos.

To build some stupid roundabouts that nobody will know how to use.

Id like to see this roundabout lovers drive a semi through them, it SUCKS.

I avoid Carmel like the plague. Have to go there for work sometimes being a local p&d truck driver, but I hate it. Id rather live in Brightwood than Carmel!

People seem to use them just fine, actually, and they move traffic better than red lights/stop signs. As for semi's, I'm sure they'll figure it out. Or, maybe deliveries will have to be made using smaller trucks. They're consulting the Brits, who no doubt have experience in that area.

Laugh at this all you want, but this is a reasonable idea that would be less land intensive (and I'm thinking particularly of the area around Greyhound Pass, which was going to be a real problem with all of the businesses up there). And even if it takes 2 years, that's still shorter than the state's original plan that involved standard interchanges.

In my opinion, the Keystone Parkway project is a model that should be considered for Binford Blvd. as well.

When I drive up north, I love going down Keystone now ... so much faster! But I go without having to do those roundabouts, which I find to be a PITA.

Don't think it will work on 31 though ... too many semis. Our tiny roundabout in Columbus is being completely redone because of all the heavy vehicles ...

Plus, aren't there different rules for 31 since it's a US highway and not a city street?

First off, I'm not a lady.

Second, Carmel could most certainly make it happen by banning large trucks from city streets crossing U.S. 31, just as it did with Keystone Parkway.

That said, I doubt Carmel takes it that far. They'll work with engineers -- foreign and domestic -- to ensure the roundabouts can accommodate large trucks or come up with creative alternatives. Brainard may be crooked, but he isn't stupid.

Keystone works great. The only interchange that I think has any problem is the one at 116th street and that's because there seem to be too many lanes for people to understand how to merge. I honestly think U.S. 31 needs a different design though, because there will be much more traffic with all of the office buildings around. Roundabouts could be incorporated somehow, just not as bridges going over the highway.
