May accept job in southeast Indy near Riff Raff's and Ace Hardware near E Southeastern Avenue and E English Ave. Not sure if this area is a safe place to raise and family with 2 kids (middle schooler, high schooler). This will be an out of state move for us. I would like my drive to work to be 15 to no more than 30 minutes. Preferable 15-20 minutes. Looking for good public school since I can't afford a private school and a school with a good football team and girls basketball team. I've looked at Beechgrove area on google maps. That looks real close to my new job. I've also looked at Southport, Cumberland, New Palestine (maybe too far though, I don't know), and wanamaker area. Could you all please help me with suggestions. Thank you!

English and Southeatern intersection anchors the Twin Aire neighborhood. If you look down a bit on page one of the forum, there is already a thread about Twin Aire you may find helpful.

With kids, I would move out of Indianapolis Public Schools. So check out the schools for any house you are looking at.

I like Beech Grove (unsure of schools), Franklin Township, and Southport. All have houses that are affordable. Southport has numerous routes to the area of work in case of accident or slowdown. Loads of shopping close.

Thanks! We are more use to rural living so I hope I can find a house with at least a little land (1/4 to 1 acre) not in a subdivision. I'll look more into the Beechgrove schools.

Look into Franklin Township. There are areas around there that have plenty of acreage, while not being far from jobs or amenities. Plus, the public schools there are better than Beech Grove and probably the best public schools in the county.

If that's the case then you can hardly do better than Franklin township. The further east and south you get in Franklin township the more rural it feels. It has the rural feel with the conveniences of town close when you need them.

Southport area straight south has Perry Township schools that are great. Greenwood is great. Greenwood mall sits close to both

Southport HS usually has a pretty decent football team.
