I dont have a problem with the subburbs in and around Indy. In fact the the northern burbs of Camel, Fishers, Nobles & Zions ville and some others like Avon and plainfield have their own unique character and some of their city centers and ammenities are quite attractive. Even the closer burbs like Lawrence & Beechgrove have some redeeming qualities. I can do a day trip to any of them and have a great time seeing and doing things I had no idea were there. Hell one of my physicians that I see often is at community east and I can find things to do down in Warren twonship and Irvington. It aint NYC or Chicago but I guess it must be an expectation thing

Maybe its because im one of them "hill jacks or jack hills" or however you call em

Downtown is pretty clean and serves its purpose well

Uh no smokestacks on 65

Doesn't sound much different from most other cities.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's the people that make a region and to me that is more important the overall physical appearance of a city. Granted, Indy has limited natural attractions such as hills, mountains, rivers, lakes or oceans, etc. and you can only do so much with flat topography. But the area has made the most out of what it has to offer.

A friend of mine that graduated from Purdue still speaks highly of the area. When I told him I was thinking about moving to Indy for a while he commented about how friendly the people are in the area and pretty decent as well. So, I think that is more important than whether or not the area has a lot of natural attractions. Hell, Kansas City is a fairly nice looking city and has some natural resources like small hills and lakes and the river but the people are woefully ignorant, paranoid, self absorbed, nasty and miserable. I hope this proves my point.

Entering Indy from North Keystone is much more attractive. The building at Keystone at the Crossing are nice, especially at sunrise.

I still think it is fair to say most cities have a mix of attractive and unattractive entry points.

And every one I've been to has a lot of strip malls and car dealerships.
