Judge throws out Indiana ban on same-sex marriage

This is huge ! Indiana is more conservative than Texas is, so to have to pass is a huge black eye for Indiana. I never thought Indiana would have willing permitted gay marriage, esp after HJR-3 so wow.

This is so funny b/c there was so much effort put towards blocking gay marriage. This is actually a good thing b/c it's more money for Indianapolis due to marriage license processing fees ($$).

That's a good way Mike Pence could spin it, IMO.

Hey Max--there is already a thread on this in the general Indiana forum.

On this issue, the majority of citizens did not support the ban on gay marriage from the stats I read months ago.

The Republicans have successfully gerrymandered the state in many areas to keep their positions in state govt.

I honestly don't think the average Joe cares really. Yes, you have some religious people that don't want it, and a few fanatics on both sides, but life will go on as normal.

Except that Pence is against gay marriage in every way. And he's backing the taxpayer-funded effort to appeal the ruling.

A stay wasn't unexpected.

It's only a matter of time, however, before the Supreme Court puts all of these cases to rest and same-sex marriage is legal in all states.
