I work in the area around Marcy Village. The surrounding neighborhoods are awful, but the apts are pretty decent. I have recommended it before to people looking in that price range and would do so again.

The apts are gated and the mgmt is responsive.

The police get very few runs into the apts.

The for the record. Relators and apt salespeople have expanded the Broad Ripple area to mean Allisonville/38th/71st/Michigan Rd.

Marcy Village is actually pretty close to Ripple and quite close to the Monon.

There is always some kind of construction at some point along 38th street. 38th street approaching I-465 from both sides is awful because of the West Side Corridor project going on.

What gdude said was right; there is major work on I-465. Depending on your work hours, it might be a major hassle (though if memory serves, the 38th Street portion is complete, not sure about 56th Street). Of course, Fisherman's village is closer to the Crawfordsville Rd exit, which is yet to be worked on.

The biggest drawback is that there is not much over there. You have to drive to Hendricks Co., West 86th, or downtown if you want to do something other than shop at Target or eat at TGI Fridays.
