I'll be moving in mid-June 2010 and will be working at DFAS at 8899 East 56th Street.

I'm looking to rent a 1 bed 1 bath, but am open to other options. I'm not concerned with the schools and would like to be as close as possible for the shortest commute. Currently Harrison Place Apartments is at the top of my list. Seems to be a safe area. If anyone has experience with those apartments let me know what your experience was like.

Would it be worth to consider a further commute to get out of Marion County? I've heard the taxes in comparison to other counties is high. I would like to stay close for both time and gas costs but maybe I should consider Hancock County.

Thanks for the help,

Harrison Place is your best choice if you were to stay near Ft. Ben. I have a friend who lived there for 2 years and loved it. She works for DFAS. It is directly across from the YMCA and the Lawrence police travel that road all of the time. There is another apartment complex near Oaklandon and Fox Rd., but the name escapes me.

I would stay away from the complexes west of Ft. Ben. The is another nice complex in Hancock County. It is in McCordsville right on SR-67 near Mt. Comfort Rd. It is about 15-20 minutes from Ft. Ben. Good Luck!

I agree - Harrison Place is good, Hancock County is good and not far away.
