2016 will be better for the markets. At least, that's my prediction.

(2009-2014 was when you should have made good money, if you were invested of course.)

I had an excellent 2015. But then I invest for income with dividend paying stocks.

nyc attracts low income workers from all over because of all the perks here .

a public transportation system that takes them all over without the expenses of a car

rent stabilization on 50% of all the housing

subsidized housing of all sorts , everything from low income projects , to affordable housing projects to section 8 .

loads of unskilled jobs with potential for advancement , unlike just the local deli or pizza place .

assisted utility costs

school lunch programs if you are below certain levels

food stamps if you qualify

ethnic neighborhoods that support each other . you go to flushing queens which is a huge chinatown kind of area and as an american many stores charge you more .

the list goes on and on so yes my friend high cost of living areas like nyc do have lots of assistance and benefits for lower incomes too , which is why nyc attracts so much unskilled labor .

Smart guy!

Grab all those dividends!

People are making a fortune.

And hey if they go down, buy even more.

you can read the last discussion on dividends if you think that is how they work . it has been discussed enough time at this point .

it is a mis-informed understanding of them if you think you are getting something extra in hand by their payout . you are just moving the existing value of your investment to different pockets putting part of the value in the left pocket and part of the value in the right with no change in value of your investment either way .

The era of equities, bonds and CDs are over. Real Estate and small businesses are all that's left

So that was the big scary Shemitah jujubee you've been talking up on these forums for so long? A year where the stock market gained 1%? This thing you've described as a crash surpassing 2008, economic earthquake, far more catastrophic than the failure of the international monetary system, etc. was proven by a small gain?

You sure do set the bar high to validate your predictions!

I think he may be onto something. It's really simple. Add the digits of the years 2008 and 2016. We get 10 and 18 or simplified 5:9. And what significance is that? Conclusive evidence of an impending crash.

or perhaps daily charting of options, but it takes tenaciousness and time! Back in the day I had American Funds, Templeton, and Fidelity products all doing 10--15 % plus a variable insurance that did 35% return paying off principle and when I cashed it in a downpayment on a condo!!! This is the Shemitah jubilee year as was the year of the big crash in 1929 . Using Shemitah cycles is another mapping many don't get including leaders in finance.

Your problem is that Social Security is going down 25% next year...
