Even if there is a recession, I still believe the stock market will go higher over the next 10 years.

5 to 10% declines, or even 20% declines will mean nothing in the longer term.

The US economy is resilient and unstoppable.

China could really turn public sentiment against Trump if they start withholding products such as cell phones and TVs from our market.

Yes, but if almost all Chinese goods are tarriffed at 25% it may cause inflation initially as costs are passed onto consumers then deflation as demand wanes and that is just bad news for the economy and jobs.

If we could bring back half the stuff lost to China and build them here, our economy would explode.

President Trump is negotiating. This technique is out of his book. He is taking everything away from China to get the best deal. China needs us...we have nothing to lose...just be patient.

Trade wars are stupid. No one wins a trade war and the fact that the President thinks he can shows he knows nothing about the situation.

Trump will single handily push us into a recession if he continues on the tariff path and it will do **** all for "bringing jobs back" while we sit at or over full employment.

Maybe starting a trade war with Europe over cars will turn it all around Mister President. By all means, go out with a bang. If one is "easy to win" you might as well start some more.

Wait, weren't we "close" to a deal for months now? More bull****.

Idiot. The people that support this garbage are equally culpable. The way to attack China was through coordinated effort with Europe and using something like the TPP. Can't have that! Obama! This whole pissing contest is all "ra ra ra I've got balls I'm going to do something, anything, right now, because MAGA slogan" and people cheer because they are ignorant and the one sentence slogan looks good.

This is what happens when we govern via slogans and headlines.

As long as we have a president that does whatever he wants equities and our economy are in a risky situation. Many companies, as well as investors, cannot make accurate earnings forecasts (and necessary investments) when the landscape is subject to drastic changes. There is too much event risk with a president that single-handedly takes on trade, our Fed, and foreign policy without regard to the advice of others with experience and expertise in those areas.
