Oh, and here I thought I had a Computer Science degree, and almost minored in mathematics at the recommendations of my Prob & Stat and Calc III profs, but alas, so seem to know my life better than do I.

Which Omega? I hope not a Speedmaster -- every other pic I see on horology forums is of a Speedmaster. Makes me want to get a Lunar Pilot just to be different.

Maybe you should have completed that minor and I don’t know your life but your understanding demonstrated in this thread is way off and it’s pretty basic. Go back and read your comments about a 20.00 selling triggering and if you can’t see the problem with this scenario mathematically it’s on you and your degree failed you in this situation

Purchased some puts yesterday on AMC just as speculation that it will drop to $30 before we see $70. Which way will it go? We shall find out

No failure -- even selling at $20 almost doubles my money. And I was being hyperbolic to make a point, obviously. Furthermore:

[my current gain] - [my cost basis] = $ cha-chingeroo $

How's that for math, then?

Well for a wider perspective of the math let’s assume you purchased 100 shares at 10.00 and sold 100 at 20.00. Your gain ignoring transaction costs and taxes is 1000.00 on a 1000.00 investment. Great right? Not really. You are making your comments when the stock is 55.00+ so I have certainly an opportunity to realize a 4500.00 gain and if I let it drop to 1000.00 what’s the difference? $3500.00. That’s the true math and to fool yourself by saying well heck at least you’ve double your money just shows you are terrible at math and don’t understand what you had before you coughed it up

Let me know if your “almost” minor in math enables you to comprehend what I’m saying

Sorry I've been off a couple of days. To the questions 1 Yes I do have enough cash backup to cover my shorts. 2 Yes its a margin account but I have lots of cash in it currently and I'm not margined.

While I may be a little bit ahead now at $55- I was sort of hoping it would jump to $100 for a day or two so I could short some more.

My comment was more facetious than anything.
I don't know at what entry point you went short, nor does it matter.
The only way to do a short nowadays in $AMC, is to be covered, completely and in cash. It is the 'meme' thing. This is becoming a fight, a deadly fight. fortunes will be made and lost.

I can be but sometimes it’s detracted when people ignore reality of what’s going on around them simply to “ feel” better. I’m not a make up nonsense to feel better kind of guy so if you need that at a party hold off on the invite
