Um…maybe I didn’t make my point. The media and everyone is talking about a bull market… Yet we still have not recovered from the bear market. That’s what I was saying. For me, I’m still in a “down” position Obviously, I know bear markets exist. Nothing I said indicated otherwise. Got it?!
So you're down...why does that matter?
there seems to be this expectation that if one's portfolio isn't at an all time high its this big bad thing...not saying you're saying exactly that, but that's the sentiment I got from your post.....

Jesus dude. It matters to me - ergo my comment about it. The timing of the downturn was just par for the course for me, and it was frustrating - it still is - but obviously I am still invested. I certainly expect/hope things will turn positive - eventually. I said nothing about it being "this big bad thing". I'm finding it silly that the media is all "BULL MARKET"...when we still are down. You are reading something else into my post - whatever you want to read apparently. And I also said nothing about always expecting to be at an all time high. Please.

Things will turn around, be patient, and stay invested.
And we're still 10% off the record high in January 2022.
Double that in real dollar terms.
If you adjust for inflation 2022 was a really, really bad year for the indexes. Even without doing that it was pretty gnarly. Bounce backs are common. Written up better here than I could:
