I don't know why you turned this into a political thread?

Since you did, I'm curious though. What, specifically has Bush done to destroy America. And what, specifically is Obama's plan to fix it? Hope and change make for a nice speech, but I want to know about the plan of action.

I didn't mention Obama; Osama (remember him?) set a course to destroy this country I believe because we put Bush in office. Seems to me like it's working too but it is also working to bring other countries down too. If we put another Republican in office it will not end until this country has been destroyed...if we put a Dem in it will not turn around over night because the damage has already been done and its too great. I'm looking for a depression in my lifetime now. Wasn't the first one bad enough? The way my aunts and uncles describe it you'd think one is enough.

While I don't want to turn this into a pointless political debate, it isn't one person's fault. A lot of people have gotten us into this mess over many years and it will take a team effort to get us out over many more years. There's no quick fix, no knight in shining armor, no white horse.

I'm not defending Bush or Greenspan or any of them-- they deserve all the scorn they receive-- and I don't think Obama can lead us out. Actually, visionaries are sometimes the least practical. They make people believe that anything is possible, but NOBODY has put forth a viable save-the-day strategy. If he had, it would be a slam dunk election and consumer sentiment would be rising.

I think we could pull out of a housing or oil tailspin, but throw them both at us, with both of them escalating, and I think we might be flying into the perfect storm. If we can't get one of them under control, we're in trouble. And we have a lot of people, from politicians to Wall Street, greedy lenders, irresponsible homeowners, clueless investors, car makers and gas guzzling drivers to blame. It's a big pie, and many, many people added to it. Many, many more will be affected. Oil touches all our lives in one way or another, since it factors into the cost of almost everything we buy, sell or need.

This is nobody's fault but ours, the citizens. We gave our power away and were too busy watching American Idol and Sex & The City instead of fiercely guarding the precious jewel that is liberty. And this has been going on for generations.

It's not Bush's fault (outside of being an oppurtunistic parasite). Same goes for McCain or Obama or whatever globalist shill takes office pretending to represent the people. And you can't depend on them to get you out of it.

We're going to have to save ourselves. It's up to us, and it always has been.

I agree - what is the democrats plan? They don't have one. Anyone notice that oil has gone up considerably since the democrats took congress?

Called my democrat representative today, and all I got on the oil issue was tax the oil companies more. yeah - that will help.

The democrats do not control the price of oil. The US does not control the price of oil. Oil is not a government controlled commodity.

Fascism is what Hitler was and what some call the current GOP - a far right economic and political philosophy. Based on 'corporate fascism' with huge tax breaks to the wealthy and corporations; a reactionary preemptive foreign policy, anti science, anti liberal , anti intellectual & extreme nationalism.

Marxism is a leftist political philosophy. Ranging from Western European style Socialism now in existence, to Communism in the late USSR.

If anything Obama will attempt to bring in the kind of social & economic reforms similar to FDR and Harry Truman. Which are leftist and not fascist.

You are correct. It is not political. It has went way beyond that. Now we are in the moral, criminal and character domain. In life, failure in that arena has far grimmer results than politics.

Specifically -- the lies and invasion of Iraq were drawn from Cheney's 2001 Energy Task Force. The conclusion of the Energy Task Force was that we were going to be (and are now) short on oil if we did not either: Replace it, reduce the use, or try to steal it.

They chose the "steal it" option. By far the worse for everyone in retrospect. The Home Invasion Robbery of Iraq was set up to allow US (and some British) Oil Corporations to claim the Iraqi Oil reserves.

In this folly, not only has the oil not come through, but Bush has wasted the assets and good will that could have been used to lead US off oil. Total failure, 100% Bush and Company

Dunno about Obama either way. Just because I recognize the gross failures in character and action by Bush does not improve my view of the D's who failed their duty to remove Bush for the War Crimes committed along the way.

I think we are going to turn out to be pretty much on our own, as the typical Russian was after the collapse of the Soviet Union.
