And it probably helps when a person is young and good looking! Wife and I still think that it isn't very friendly here......our opinion and observation of how people act, that's all! Of course we are 20 plus years older than the OP is and that can definitely make a difference!

I don't think OP really knows what a friend is, you have made some acquaintances.

Agree...

Definitions:
Friend: person you know well and regard with affection and trust
Acquaintance: A person one knows slightly

You made acquaintances not friends. I have plenty of acquaintances but no friends.

The best way to make friends is to *be* one.
Every close friend began as a mere acquaintance.

IMHO, good vibes tend to attract more good vibes.
The reverse is true as well.

I am glad for you, OP. Your community sounds wonderful.
Our neighborhood is conducive to friendship--lots of front porches-- we love where we live.
We are certainly not young, but we try to be approachable, and it works for us.
Having a bunch of people over for dinner tomorrow night.
