My family and I are contemplating building a house in the Eagle Landing neighborhood out at Oakleaf. My in-laws are moving in with us and we need a bigger house. We currently live in Eagle Harbor in Fleming Island but we cannot find a house there big enough for our needs (5 adults, 3 kids) that is within our budget. I know the schools are better in Fleming Island but I wanted to get people's opinions surrounding Eagle Landing and the Oakleaf area. I know it went through a hard time a few years back but it appears as though it is rebounding with great shopping. We have only lived in the area for about 5 months so any information would be greatly appreciated. I am interested in thoughts around the schools (elementary and junior high specifically), the crime, property value migration, shopping, etc.

I'd like to hear about this too - we are interested in Fleming Island (vs. St. Johns) - but my spouse likes Clay County taxes much better and wants to build. Eagle Landing looks very nice! Hopefully some residents will respond....
