I have been watching some of these Realtor videos on YouTube extolling the virtues and negatives of Ponte Vedra Beach. A few have mentioned Alligators, I haven't seen any except at the Alligator Farm in St Augustine. I have seen 2 snakes (harmless black ones). Some cayotes allegedly attacked a cat but I did not see them or verify the veracity of those claims. Some mentioned bobcats and other alleged wildlife but I haven't seen any. Maybe others have had a different experience. I am talking about Ponte Vedra Beach and not Ponte Vedra.

seen plenty of gators in PVB but yeah they're more prominent in the ponds in Nocatee. Were the realtors listing gators as maybe a way to say 'hey this is about the worst thing you have to worry about'. Those other wild animals you mentioned I think you wouldn't see very often outside of guana.

Although, a friend of mine was attacked by a rabid fox back in the early 90's on the back porch of one of those little patio homes in villages of solana. He had to do all the rabies treatments etc... what a hoot that was.

I've now lived here almost 10 years and have seen only maybe 5 or 6 gators in the community ponds here, none were bigger than 5 or 6 feet in length. I've also only seen less than 10 snakes and none were venomous. The hype on gators is about as bad as this stupid "Shark Week" nonsense on Discovery. The odds are greater of getting struck by lightning than they are of getting killed by either animal. The worst animal encounter I've had here thus far is stepping on an ant nest just a few weeks ago and they really bit my foot and leg.

I've seen countless alligators in retention ponds all over PVB and have dispatched 10+ water moccasins (not banded water snake which looks similar). I've also seen coyotes, hogs and turkeys running across Micklers and Palm Valley Rd.
