On advice from an employment agency I had listed my resume on Career Builder.com for the whole world to see and wasn't sure if that's a good idea because of all the personal info involved. Plus now I just got a call from a casualty + life insurace company saying they have career oppurtunities available being they seen my resume from career builder but I'm not interested in the least with anything to do with banking or insurance and it sounded like a telemarketing call to boot.

Is it not wise to post resumes on such sites for EVERYONE to see due to spammers, telemarketers, junk mailers etc because my address, home phone number, email, and other info is on there

Yea, you will get those type of calls from time to time from it but you will probably get a few legit calls as well, I just left off my full address when doing this. Other then that who cares about the rest of it.

Ah...Career Builder : Welcome to the world of Scammers Delight !

Expect ALOT of letters from insurance agencies ..( who want you to pay for courses , licenses and junk leads that lead to nowhere )

And scammers who want you to ship stolen items ( items they paid for with stolen credit cards , mail them to you- ( so that you will be arrested when they trace the packages instead of the thiefs... ) and you mail them back to scammers...

Ive never got any of that but maybe because I didn't leave my address on there. I get the occasional insurance sales BS is about it.

That's how Alfac got my info. They bothered me for over a year. I will not post my resume online anymore. Not worth it.

It is important to post your resume online during a job search. Many employers will search for resumes rather than post jobs and get swamped with resumes.

Unfortunately careerbuilder must let just about anyone grab your info. The only reason I don't post my resume there is that they do not have a way to block specific companies like Monster does. At least not that I can find.

I find that linkedin.com is a decent place to post your resume. I have had a few quality contacts as a result.

So when posting your resume online, do most of you include address, phone no. and e-mail address?

I didn't. I had my name there and XXX XXXX for my home address. No phone number and a special email created for the resume. I'm surprised people are putting out their personal info on the net.

Careerbuilder has privacy controls that allow you to choose what qualifications you want to reveal and what contact methods you want to allow. If you can't navigate internet pages to find and utilize privacy controls, it might be best if you not use it at all.
