Ok, so I was offered a job and was instructed to complete the drug test by Monday 4:00PM. Today (Saturday) I went to the lab at 11:30 and realized that they were closing at 12. The problem was that I was not hydrated enough and employees there were pushing everyone because they wanted to go home. Well, at the end I told them I will come back on Monday when I am ready. They said that I cant just take the form back and they will mark it as "refusal to test". But I did not refuse, I can come back and do it on Monday by deadline. Anyway, I emailed HR and explained the situation and that I would like to stop by and pick up new form on Monday morning, so that I can test by deadline.

God.....

embarrassing..

Will they cancel the offer because of this?

If you are head and shoulders above the other candidates this probably won't matter at all. On the other hand, if there were 2 or more candidates really close and it was a difficult decision, they might be influenced and consider it a problem following instructions or excuse to delay the test in the hope that something incriminating is purged.

If you knew the test was coming up, you should have known that you would be required to give a urine sample. Why was this a mystery to you? It sounds to me like you are trying to hide something, and that is how it is going to sound to your employer as well.

If nothing else, it shows poor planning.

Oh you guys are not helpful. I was instructed to go for the test on Monday , but I went early on Saturday. The staff there (lab) was unprofessional and rude and they wer pushing everyone because they wanted to go home. Now you are saying I am not a good candidate, poor planning, hiding something. You know there are more way to test for drugs then urine and they do not tell you which way they will do it...
But you guys will think that it's my fault anyway......

First you said by Monday, now you're saying on Monday. Which is it?

They said by Monday but also mentioned that all labs are closed on weekend, so I will need to do it on Monday. I was able to find a lab (the only one in the area among many others) that open on Saturday...

I was offered the job and then had to take a drug test as a condition of employment. Chances are, if they haven't actually offered you the job that they do intend to. I doubt the test mix up will cause a problem. I had to take mine twice too. I was afraid I'd be pee shy so was sure to drink plenty before hand. Well, my test came back 'dilute' - which is what some people do to try to mask a test that they know will come back 'hot'. They rescheduled me, I drank a normal amount before hand, peed, passed, employed

On the contrary, the responses have been quite appropriate.

An excellent point. Drug testing is costly to the employer. I never sent a potential employee for pre-employment testing unless I knew this was the person I wanted to hire.

Just tell the truth in the same way you told it to us. The truth is always the way to go! Good luck.
