You have to leave off the address if you are posting it on a job board/ applying to multiple jobs. I leave mine off and if the recruiter wants the address they will simply call. Just put your city, zip code so they have a general idea of your location

I believe some candidates do that to prevent identity theft. Maybe a valid concern since one of the easiest ways to get lots of personal information is to place a false job posting.

I was just thinking about this the other day. Unfortunately, I have always used my complete address on my resume but I think going forward I will only use zip code

Especially If I'm applying online, I used to make sure to have some sort of contact with the hiring company first to make sure they weren't phony, and have someone directly send me their contact info to submit a resume.

I think it's a good idea to leave the address off. A phone number is really all that's needed, unless they want to see where you live in terms of relocation. I think it's a smart idea, it wouldn't put me off.

We only accept applications/resumes through our website, and without an address it would be rejected as incomplete. We use it to mail a confirmation letter that we received it, and later, rejection letter to those that do not make it to the interview stage.

No and the reason is because background checks.

At major corporations, if they can't do a proper background check, you are disqualified immediately.

At major corporations I've been at, background checks are usually among the last things that get done once the final candidate has been selected. Noone I know disqualifies a candidate because they don't have an address on their resume. The thing is, if you apply online to most companies, address is required info anyways.

I personally leave my address off of my resume because I am presently trying to relocate to another state. I find that if I leave it on there, I don't get any callbacks regarding the opportunity. They see that Im in another state and automatically disqualify me. I have mades the most contacts and gotten the most interview with my address left off of my resume.

If the company needs it, they will ask you to provide it if you are selected for an interview.
